A Beautiful, Slow Story
From Kaitlyn Smith of Ashville, Alabama on 2/9/2021 .
This book has been on my reading list since the very first time I read Little Women and strong Jo March was reading it and it evoked so much emotion from her. And, to be honest, I didn’t see why as I read through the first part of this story. I kept on reading it only because it was mentioned in one of my favourite books, and I had been wanting to read it so long . . . and then I ended part one and started part two, and went and dug out a box of tissues. I enjoyed watching how this passionate young girl grew into a self-controlled woman, and being able to see the journey she took will forever encourage me to mourn my sin more than I do, and to ever strive for excellency in the Christian walk.
Wide, Wide World

I'm reading this now and love it! So refreshing to read a book with my Lord involved! The other books are Christmas Gifts so can't review, but I will be reading Tested, I think as I want to keep that for myself. Thank you! God Bless to all!

Reading The Wide, Wide World was really life-changing for me. Not only did it give me a fresh view of the Bible and Heaven, but also I felt challenged by the high moral standard that John and Alice Humphreys lived and taught to Ellen. Of all the Lamplighter books I have read, I think this one may have inspired me the most. I encourage everyone to read it! Do not be intimidated by its length! I definitely believe it was worth the time I spent reading it! Love this book!❤️
Excellent Read

I have anticipated reading this book since it came into my possession. I waited until the Summer Reading Challenge, not on purpose, but it's how it has worked out. I'm loving it! The author does a wonderful job endearing her characters to your heart. I love how Ellen, like myself, has to learn that it is the challenges and hardships that draw us closer to Christ. And the references to Scripture and characteristics of Christ-like character make it wholly satisfying. I can't wait for my 13-year-old daughter to read it. She will love it, I'm sure! She reads through books so fast sometimes... She has a voracious appetite for reading. I'm so thankful that I can put these great books in her hands knowing she will be learning valuable lessons and character traits I want to instill in her, and in such a fun, engaging way. Thank you for these treasures, Lamplighter. They are truly a blessing. I know it will be a sad, yet satisfying day, when I have read the final chapter of this book. Very highly recommended.
Excellent Choice!!

Because of a busy schedul it's taking me longer that normal to read this one, but I have been thoroughly enjoying it!! Ellen endeared herself to me from the start and the other characters are very real and believable as well. Hours of pleasure already, and looking forward to hours more!
