Dear friends,

Our newest illustrated tale, Launch the Lifeboat, is a gem written by British author, best known as Mrs. O.F. Walton (1849-1939).

Walton was born Amy Catherine Deck to the vicar of St. Stephen's Church, York, England. She began her career as an author of mainly fictitious children's stories in 1870 beginning with
My Mates and I, but the story was not published until 1873. Her first published work was titled My Little Corner. She then went on to write Christie's Old Organ, which became one of her most well known stories to date, with reprints continuing for decades after the first publication.

In 1875, she married Octavius Frank Walton, her father's curate, which then birthed the pen name of Mrs. O.F. Walton, for which she was better known. The couple soon moved to Jerusalem where Octavius carried on a ministry at a church on Mount Zion, and Amy continued authoring children's stories. It was while living there that in 1878, she wrote her most popular book of all time,
A Peep Behind the Scenes, selling over 2 1/2 million copies when first published. A Peep Behind the Scenes remains the most popular book out of all her stories in the Lamplighter Rare Collection, and in 2010 the captivating story became a Lamplighter Theatre drama, 132 years after it was first published!

The Waltons returned to England in the early 1880s, and Amy continued writing stories. In 1886, she published the illustrated tale,
Launch the Lifeboat. This book is a real treasure featuring beautiful illustrations by H. J. Rhodes. Lamplighter has resurrected this wonderful work exactly as it was originally published, containing the same layout, illustrations, and of course the same enthralling story!

Altogether, Walton penned 33 known works, 10 of which have been published in the Lamplighter Rare Collection.

Today we are offering you an opportunity to purchase all 10 stories by Mrs. O.F. Walton in a series of packages, or altogether at special discounted prices!
