Good Story
From Madelyn Mowery of Cleveland, Tennessee on 3/5/2021 .
I got this book for Christmas, and I really enjoyed it. It does start off slow, but it picks up later in the book. I liked how the question of who Lydia Orr was played out in the story, and I’m glad they didn’t drag it out for the whole book. These two authors are great with character development, dialogue, and morals. The more I read, the more I connected with the characters, feeling that it was very realistic. It had humbling moments, exciting moments, sweet moments, and impactful moments. There were a few times where I wished the story had done the main points differently, or gone more into depth with the suspense and action. However, overall it was a great book!
Beautiful Example of Forgiveness
From Kaitlyn Smith of Ashville, Alabama on 2/9/2021 .
I was quickly drawn into the tale of the citizens of this little town of Brookville -- of Wesley Elliot, of Andrew Bolton, of Jim and Fanny Dodge . . . and this intriguing tale that illustrated so well how hateful a bitter, unforgiving heart can be. This was a story that showed how the precepts of Christian forgiveness are always right, thought they can be hard to follow, and I have no doubt I will hold this book long in remembrance.

I just finished this book. It is beautiful bound in a feels-good leather tone. The story within is well written and pricks your conscience. I really like Florence Kingsley's books. She does a good job weaving her stories and introducing her characters. Although it does start out a bit slow, just wait... You won't want to put it down!
Nice Book
From Jack Snavely of Castle Rock, Colorado on 3/29/2019 .
As someone pointed out, I found this book a little slower with not as much to grab me as a reader. After getting 2/3 of the way through, it was hard to put down. Having finished it, I will likely read it again. The message is very good. We must not be too quick to judge others.
Very Good

This book struck me as a little more slow moving, but the story is still very good! It is a beautiful story of forgiveness, and learning to follow the Lord's will.
Very Interesting!

I highly recommend this book. I was pretty sure who Miss Orr was almost from the beginning, but the plot was intruiging and took some very unexpected twists. My favorite character (besides Lydia Orr of course) was the gallant Jim Dodge. Read and enjoy!
The Alabaster Box

My 16 year old granddaughter was very happy Christmas morning when she opened the box, and very excited when she read that I had opened a book club account for the year 2018 for her.

We love Lamplighter books and order them regularly. The Alabaster Box just arrived and it is a beautiful book and binding - can't wait to read it, but my 19, 18 and 14 year old all are waiting in line before me. I am so glad that books of this quality are available to inspire my teens!

The book was a gift to my 13 yr old granddaughter. What I can say is she really likes the book and is drawn to reading it. She said she likes the details of the characters. She is enjoying the book and she"ll let me read it when she's finished.

This book made me think about how powerful an influence our words are, for the good of others or for their harm.
